(6) This is contained in Scripture: “Look! I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honored cornerstone; and the one who believes in him shall never be disappointed.” (7) Now the honor is for you who believe; but for the unbelievers, “The stone that the builders rejected, this very one has become the chief cornerstone;” (8) and, “A stone over which men stumble and a rock at which men take offense.” They stumble because they are disobedient to the word, to which fate, indeed, they were appointed.
