What Awaits You at the End of Life’s Road? – Exodus 18:1-12
18 Now Jethro, the priest of Midian and Moses’ father-in-law, heard about all that God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, how Jehovah had brought Israel out of Egypt. (2) After Moses had sent away his wife Zipporah, Jethro, his father-in-law, took care of her (3) and her two sons. One son was named Gershom, because Moses had said, I have become a sojourner in a foreign land. (4) The name of the other was Eliezer, because he had said, My father’s God was my helper; he delivered me from Pharaoh’s sword. (5) Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, together with Moses’ sons and his wife, came to him in the wilderness, where he was camped by the mountain of God. (6) He had sent word to Moses, saying, I, Jethro, your father-in-law, am coming to you with your wife and her two sons.
(7) So Moses went out to greet his father-in-law and bowed down and kissed him. They inquired of each other’s welfare and then went into the tent. (8) Moses told his father-in-law all that Jehovah had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake and about all the hardships they had encountered along the way and how Jehovah had delivered them. (9) Jethro rejoiced over all the good that Jehovah had done for Israel in delivering them from the hand of the Egyptians. (10) Jethro said, Blessed be Jehovah, who has delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh, who has delivered the people from the hand of the Egyptians! (11) Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all other gods; indeed, this has been proven by his response to those who treated Israel arrogantly. (12) Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father-in-law in the presence of God.
