How Should We Approach the Book of Revelation? – Revelation 1:1-3
1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him in order to show his servants the things that must soon occur. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, (2) who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. (3) Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who heed it, because the appointed time is near.
A note on the Scripture text that accompanies each individual message: The American Standard Version and the New International Version, along with the original Greek and Hebrew, have been used in an effort to achieve the greatest degree of accuracy and clarity. Where words or phrases have been added to the original text in an effort to better express its meaning, those words or phrases have usually been indicated by means of italics.
