Do Not Harbor Prejudice against Christ – John 5:31-47
5 (31) If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. (32) There is someone else who testifies about me; and I know that his testimony about me is valid. (33) You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth. (34) But the testimony I receive is not from a man; however, I say these things so that you may be saved. (35) John was the lamp that burns and shines; and for a little while you were willing to rejoice in his light. (36) But the testimony that I possess is greater than the testimony of John; for the works that the Father has given me to perform—the very works that I am doing—testify about me, testifying that the Father has sent me. (37) And the Father who sent me has testified about me himself. You have neither heard his voice nor seen his form at any time. (38) Furthermore, you do not have his word living in you; for you do not believe the one whom he sent. (39) You study the Scriptures diligently, because you think that eternal life is found in them. Now they testify about me; (40) but you will not come to me so that you may receive life. (41) I do not accept glory from men. (42) But I know you, that you do not have a love for God within you. (43) I have come in my Father’s name and you do not accept me; if someone shall come in his own name, you will accept him. (44) How can you believe, you who accept glory from one another, but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? (45) Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father. However, there is someone who does accuse you, namely, Moses, the very one on whom you have set your hope; (46) for if you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me. (47) But if you do not believe his writings, how can you believe my words?
