Revelation 10:1-11 Reading the Passage

A Two-Fold Assignment for Contemporary Christians – Revelation 10:1-11

10 Then I saw another mighty angel coming down out of heaven. He was robed with a cloud, and the rainbow was above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like pillars of fire. (2) He was holding a little scroll, that lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot upon the sea and his left upon the land, (3) and he cried out with a loud voice, like the roar of a lion. When he cried out, the seven thunders uttered their voices. (4) And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, “Seal up the things that the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them down.”

(5) Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven. (6) He vowed by him who lives forever and ever, he who created the heaven and the things that it contains, and the earth and the things that it contains, and the sea and the things that it contains, saying, “There will no longer be any delay. (7) But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be fulfilled, just as he proclaimed by his servants the prophets.”

(8) Then the voice I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” (9) So I went to the angel, telling him that he should give me the little scroll. And he said to me, “Take it, and eat it up. It will be bitter in your stomach, but it will be sweet as honey in your mouth.” (10) I took the little scroll out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up. In my mouth it was sweet as honey, but after I had eaten it, it was bitter in my stomach. (11) Then they said to me, “You must prophesy again to many peoples and nations and languages and kings.”
